Delete your SereneReader account
SereneReader is made by JonesLabs LLC. You can delete your account and its data on this page, in Settings on the web, or in any of our apps. You don't need an app installed to do it.
Delete it on the web
Sign in with the same email address, Google account, or GitHub account that you use in the app. A different one would create a new account.
- Sign in at serenereader.com.
- Come back to this page, or open Settings, choose Data, and select Delete account.
- Type delete my account and select Permanently delete. We delete your account right away.
Delete it in the app
In our Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps, open Settings, then Account, and tap Delete account. The app signs you out when it's done.
If you pay for Pro
Deleting your account cancels a subscription you bought on the web right away. It can't cancel a subscription you bought in one of our apps, so cancel that one first:
- Google Play: In the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Choose SereneReader and tap Cancel subscription. You can also open your Google Play subscriptions on the web.
- App Store: On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.
If you lead a team, deleting your account disbands the team, and its members move to the Free plan.
What we delete
When you confirm, we delete all of this from our database right away:
- Your account: your email address, display name, profile picture address, settings, and the Google, GitHub, or Apple sign-ins linked to it
- Your sign-in sessions and any unused sign-in codes
- Your feed subscriptions and folders
- Your reading activity: read, starred, Read Later, filed, and hidden articles
- Your share links and API keys
- Your plan and the purchase identifiers we hold from Apple, Google Play, or Polar
When nobody else follows one of your feeds, we delete that feed and its articles too.
What we keep, and for how long
- Database backups: Our nightly backups keep a copy of your data for up to 14 days. Then we delete the backup.
- Server logs: Requests and errors, which can include your IP address, stay in our server logs for a limited time. Then our server removes them automatically.
- Analytics: Page-view and app usage counts stay. They were never linked to your account.
- Messages you sent us: Contact form and feedback messages stay in our email. Ask us, and we'll delete them too.
- Email delivery logs: Our email provider, Resend, keeps its own delivery logs under its privacy policy.
- Purchase records: Apple, Google, and Polar keep their own records of your payments under their own policies, for example for tax.
Our privacy policy has the details.
Can't sign in?
Send us a message from the contact form with the email address on your account, and ask us to delete it. We'll reply to that address to confirm it's yours, then delete the account within 30 days.
If you only use Sign in with Apple, you can also delete your account in our iPhone, iPad, or Mac app.
